TGIF
Today's stage finishes in Langres which we've been looking forward to visiting. It is a normal length stage but the day will be hot.
We decided that last night's supper was poor value for money so we restored the ledger at breakfast which turned out to be a very good idea.
Today's date: 7.8.20
Weather: sunny and hot
Steps: 40,190
Distance: 27.43 km
Climbing: 448 m
We headed out at 9.30 and said goodbye to the geese. There were a few cyclists about and the road to Faverolles was quiet, shaded and gently rolling.
Our plan was to lunch at the only restaurant en-route in Saint Ciergues. Unfortunately, France.
Annoyed and hungry we walked on, stopping by the reservoir de la Mouche.
The afternoon was hot and we had limited water as we had counted on a lunchtime pitstop. We climbed away from the reservoir and through woods and across fields to Langres.
Langres is a hilltop fortress and the climb into town was tough. We walked to a bar in the town centre and cooled off before heading to the campsite.
Camping Navarre Langres
A no frills campsite on the City walls. Our pitch is on top of one of the gates. The view is great.
We had our best meal yet in France at the Restaurant Le Rempart.
There is some kind of event in the city centre. We will hang around to see if they shoot any collaborators.
Tomorrow is a rest day to explore Langres.
