Seracourt le Grand to Tergnier

A la plage

A relaxed start before a short-ish day. Fresh bread and croissants from the shop before packing up and grabbing a coffee.

The morning was spent walking through open, rolling countryside with no shade. Fortunately the sun stayed mostly hidden by cloud.

Lunch was a picnic by the railway at Montescourt-Lizerolles which we spent sorting out our stopovers for the next few days.

Today's date: 17.7.20

Weather: cloudy with sunny intervals

Steps: 37,600

Distance: 24.33 km

Climbing: 336 m

After lunch we rejoined the St. Quentin Canal for the long stretch to Tergnier. The afternoon became very warm and we stopped at a busy bar in Fargniers.

Camping municipal de la Frette

Another really good place to stay. This campsite is on the edge of a large lake in which you can swim. There are all sorts of watersport and other facilities and they lock the doors at night so you have the place to yourself. We had a relaxing swim in the lake before supper. There are some bike campers here and also some large family groups that are here for the weekend.

There is a cafe on-site but we went to a restaurant just outside. The restaurant specialises in fish and played sea shanties all evening.
