Walking to lake Leman
There was no accomodation at the end of today's stage in Cossonay so we decided to double up and press on to Lausanne. Google has the walking distance as 29km, but following the via will likely add 10km.
We had a good rest and left the campsite at around 8am. The site was probably the best equipped yet - we had our own power outlet and there were lots of things we hadn't seen before like dog showers and a place to clean any fish you have caught.
Today's date: 20.8.20
Weather: sunny and hot
Steps: 51,100
Distance: 37.42 km
Climbing: 442 m
We took a coffee and got our passports stamped in Orbe. It is a very attractive small town with a busy square.
There was a custom painted Porsche - even the interior followed the same theme.
It was a long walk. We stopped a few times with lunch in Pompaples and afternoon tea in Penthaz. There were vineyards on the steeper slopes.
The day was very warm and the route was poorly signed, or maybe we just haven't worked the signage out yet.
We walked up and down a lot of hills thinking that with each crest we would see the lake but it wasn't until Bussigny that we finally saw it.
Bussigny seemed a nice place with a running track, dog training, allotments, a petanque contest and a pilates class all along a short stretch of Via.
Swiss Tech Hotel Lausanne
A modern hotel next to the conference centre and on the University campus. There is a station and various food outlets in the same building. Tomorrow we will explore Lausanne.
