Hills at last.
We caught the train from Piacenza to Fidenza and spent some time looking around.
It is a nice small town with a long pedestrian street with the Cathedral at the western end. We got a stamp at the Cathedral and grabbed a sandwich before setting off.

It was already getting hot, but it was exciting to be walking through woodland and up and over hills. The views were great.
We stopped for lunch at a busy Osteria. This is a foodie part of a foodie country and the menu was excellent.
The afternoon was really hot but we found a bar at Cella who opened just to sell us water. People have been really helpful all day - maybe we look particularly needy.
We walked on in the foothills of the mountains before meeting the river Taro and the main road across the mountains.
We had pencilled-in Medesano as our destination today but it looked a bit ugly when we arrived so we walked on to Felegara. In truth, Felegara is very similar to Medesano and we were probably just spoilt by the scenery earlier.
Accomodation
A super friendly hotel at a thermal baths in the hills above Felegara. Big rooms and an excellent pizza restaurant next door.
The next few stages cross the appenine mountains and accommodation is a problem so we spent time at supper planning.
