Canterbury and back to France

Almost normal

An easy day in prospect. Everyone up, packed and out promptly for our breakfast in Canterbury.

Good healthy breakfasts all round and fine coffee followed by a socially-distanced meander around the shops. A last shared coffee and then we waved goodbye to the kids.

The day was amazingly clear and it was easy to see France from Dover and it was a calm and unfussy crossing. We filled the 'Dover' gap in our Francigena passports with a stamp on the Ferry. The purser was super helpful and worked hard to make everything fit.

We retraced our steps (again) and drove on to Peronne. We have an elaborate plan for the next couple of days to work around the absence of any accomodation in the 50km between Arras and Peronne.

First pair of shoes worn out and replaced. It was surprisingly tough to throw them away.

Camping Le Brochet, Peronne

Our pitch for the next 3 nights. A municipal campsite in Peronne. Not a lot of facilities, but fine for what we need. And they stayed open to let us in. We have a pitch at the back surrounded by some fantastic motor homes.

There is a small lake on the site. Mosquito spray definitely required.
