Bruay la Buissiere to Villers-Chatel

Baby chicks

A good sleep and ok buffet breakfast that we ate in the room. Very bad coffee.

There is no accomodation on the Via for the next 35km so rather than do another long day we plan to wander off route and stay in a BnB.

Out of the door at 10.30 and stopped at a supermarche on the edge of town for supplies. We buy food based on how heavy it is.

The path leaves town by a disused railway that is pretty but the stones are hard on the feet.

We walked through the pretty village of Rebreuve-Ranchicourt and on through open fields. The route seemed to meander a lot today - we seemed to walk 7k for every 5k we advanced.

Today's date: 6.7.20

Weather: cloudy with sunny intervals.

Steps: 32,630

Distance: 23.38 km

Climbing: 279 m

The path climbs through woods to Loisirs d'Olhain state park which is great. It is a huge forest full of trails and activities and it was great to see so many people walking, cycling and riding horses. It had a cafe so we took a break. The park is definitely worth a visit.

We walked on forest trails before descending down to more open fields.

The road to Estree-Cauchy was very narrow and surprisingly busy. There were rabbits in the fields and we took a break and watched a family of chickens.

We arrived at 6pm. A shorter day than yesterday with better weather so we are far less battered.

CHARME D'ANTAN

Our stay tonight is in a very grand BnB in Villers Chatel. It is a lovely room in the building to the right of the chapel. The view from our window is of the garden and fields beyond. There is no food available but we knew that so have brought our own.
