Walking the Via Francigena

Notes from the way of Sigeric

Welcome.

This site is a guide to walking the Via Francigena. The Via runs for 2,200km from Canterbury in the United Kingdom to Rome in Italy and follows the path of Archbishop Sigeric who in 990 walked from Canterbury to Rome to receive his robes of office.

We hope that this record of our journey in the summer of 2020 provides useful information for other travellers and pilgrims.

You will also find information on the Via degli Dei, 'the path of the gods', between Bologna and Florence.
